Overview

A fully funded training opportunity for eligible individuals across York and North Yorkshire to develop practical skills, competence and confidence in rail engineering and depot maintenance.

Training covers rail engineering fundamentals, safe systems of work, track maintenance and patrolling, tools and equipment, inspection, switches and crossings, CWR awareness and stressing, and depot maintenance. Learners also receive employability and progression support.

• Delivery Locations: Grosmont, Pickering and York

• Duration: 8 weeks at 2 days per week (16 days total)

• Minimum Learning Hours: 120 hours

• Planned starts: 2 Nov 2026, 11 Jan 2027, 1 Feb 2027, 8 Mar 2027 and 5 Apr 2027

Eligibility includes people aged 19+ living in York and North Yorkshire, subject to funding rules.
