LEAP Wage Subsidy Programme
Region: All Y&NY
Category: Work
Overview
The York and North Yorkshire LEAP Wage Subsidy Programme gives economically inactive people aged 18+ the opportunity to gain paid part-time employment with a local employer for a minimum of 3 months. Open to residents of York and North Yorkshire, the programme helps people return to work, build confidence, develop new skills and gain valuable experience.
For employers, the programme is fully funded, providing a wage subsidy to cover the employment of an eligible participant for at least 16 hours per week over a 3-month period, based on the National Minimum Wage rate of £12.71 per hour. Additional support may also be available to help cover employment-related costs.
Participants are employed on a fixed-term contract. At the end of the placement, employers may choose to offer ongoing employment. The programme benefits both employers seeking additional resource and individuals looking to re-enter the workplace and contribute their skills and knowledge.
