Overview

The Yorkshire & Humber Learning Community is an online learning platform designed to support people who work or volunteer in sport, physical activity, and community wellbeing settings across the Yorkshire and Humber region. Unlike a traditional college, it focuses on flexible, accessible training that can be completed online, making it ideal for coaches, teachers, youth workers, and community leaders. The platform was developed by regional Active Partnerships to provide bite-sized, easy-to-access learning modules that fit around busy schedules and help improve skills in real-life community settings.

The Learning Community offers a range of free online courses and modules covering topics such as coaching skills, increasing participation in sport, inclusion and diversity, safeguarding, and community engagement. Examples include modules on engaging women and girls in sport, supporting people with additional needs, using social media, and delivering effective physical education in schools. These courses are aimed at improving knowledge and confidence rather than providing formal qualifications, but they can support progression into further training or professional development. Overall, the Yorkshire & Humber Learning Community provides a flexible and practical way for individuals to develop skills and enhance opportunities within sport, education, and community work.
