Analysis of long-term local job data

Fresh analysis of job market trends in York and North Yorkshire is now available.

Highlighting an eight-month period, the data includes what types of jobs have been available and where, as well as highlighting trends.

At the foot of this page, you can read the analysis and the methodology used to create it, by our partners at North Yorkshire Council. As noted, the report is not exhaustive, it represents a snapshot of around 10 to 20 per cent of the local job market. However, we feel it represents a useful resource, and one which feeds into our Get Britain Working Economic Inactivity Trailblazer programme.

About the data
The analysis looks at 19,938 job advertisements between August 2025 – March 2026. During that time, there was an overall job vacancy growth rate of one percent in the region, and the most popular industry vacancies were among health and medicine; education and childcare and accounting and finance.

Analysis also looks at remote working, roles which are seen as “hard to fill” and breaks information down into districts.
